There are a variety of SEZs setup across the country to promote FDI and globalisation in the economy, including Free Trade Zones, Export Processing Zones, Free Zones and others, India was in fact one of the first Asian countries to set up an EPZ and in 2000, the Indian government announced the SEZs policy to attract larger foreign investment to the country.
